Salman Khan wants to marry Preity Zinta, but Preity prefers Karan Johar

Salman Khan had recently confessed that he would like to marry Preity Zinta, and prefer her as a life partner as compared to Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopa on Koffee with Karan. Preity, however, has taken his words very lightly and instead, joked about Karan Johar to be her preference as a husband. The dimple-cheeked actress was present at a recent award function and showed up on the show with Karan Johar himself.

On being probed, what she has to say on Salman’s comment on Karan Johar’s show, she reverted, “I think, Salman was just kidding on the show.” When we further asked her as to whom does she want to get married to, she exclaimed, “I want to marry Karan Johar (chuckles).” To which Karan lightheartedly reverted, “Koi mujhse bhi toh pooche main kisse shaadi karna chahta hoon (someone please ask me too about whom I want to tie knot with).”

We turned to KJo and enquired about the same, to which Karan reverted, “I too want to get married to Preity (laughs).” Jokes continued for a while, but the duo soon turned emotional when the topic of Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne came up. “We request the media to give some space to the couple. It’s a rough patch in their lives, so be supportive.” Soon after Hrithik broke the news of his separation, Preity had expressed her grief and said, “The news has come as a shock and I still don’t believe this has happened.”

“Do random polygraph tests on IPL owners, players”

Kings XI Punjab owner Preity Zinta has advocated random polygraph tests for players, team management as well as team owners to cleanse cricket tournaments of spot fixing and other such evils.

“With so much money involved in the Indian Premier League, I would think polygraph test is the only way to go forward. We know that nobody is clever enough to fight a polygraph test,” Zinta told News24 Editor-in-Chief Anurradha Prasad in an exclusive interview on her show Aamne Saamne on Thursday. She added that players indulging in unethical means should be “banned for life”.

The actor-turned-businesswoman said polygraph tests are the only way to stop bad practices of players, who bring disrepute not only to the cricket league but the entire country. Zinta’s comments came in the wake of spot-fixing scandal involving Rajasthan Royals pacer S. Sreesanth and two others that stunned the cricket world on Thursday.

Asked to comment if the scandal will dent the IPL’s image, she said: “First of all, I am very angry. I, as an owner, feel that so much time and money spent on the mega event comes to a naught while we end up becoming victims. It’s very important that strong measures are taken now, because so much money is involved in this.”

Rape is like domestic terrorism: Preity Zinta

Known for her feisty spirit, Preity Zinta is very perturbed by the growing incidents of rape in the country. She attributes it to the fact that Indians have very short memories which is what leads to escalating crimes against women including rape. The actress who is on a high after her team won the IPL match against Pune Warriors in Mohali on Sunday, is however critical of the social apathy towards crimes against women in the country. After Nirbhaya, Preity reacted sharply to the brutal rape of the five-year-old girl in Delhi as she took to venting on social media and could not contain her angst even when she was conversing with people.

She says, “We have this whole thing in India about reacting for a very short period of time. We have such short memories. When an incident happens, we react, create jams and protests and we forget about it all and go home and sleep.” Not stopping at that, Preity terms rape also as a form of terrorism. “This (crime against women) is also terrorism, it is domestic terrorism and these culprits unleash terror on women,” she vents.

Yet, Preity doesn’t think the lapses for the escalating crimes are the onus of the government or the police alone. “Half the time we blame the police for lack of action. But that’s not true. The awareness for stopping these crimes has to come from within each one of us. We as citizens have to wake up to the fact that we have to take action to stop this. This really bothers me a lot. And somewhere even we as women have to take responsibility for saying this is enough,” she adds.

Yuvraj Singh is my friend for life: Preity Zinta

Preity Zinta, who has turned producer with her film Ishkq in Paris, has slammed reports suggesting that her debut project has no takers. “There is no truth to these reports. A story published in a daily recently, had wrong facts. I’m totally ignoring that report. I don’t want any negativity around me. This is a very special film. I have just got its full copy. I’m very happy with the film. We will be making the announcement about its release very soon,” she tells us.

It was reported that the actor, last seen in Heroes (2008), is demanding a whopping sum of R20 crores for the film and no buyer is willing to shell out that much money. The film stars newbie Rhehan Malliek opposite Preity. The 38-year-old, who was in the Capital recently, has lost quite a bit of weight, and looked stunning as she posed in a one-shoulder black sequined gown with a thigh-high slit. Asked what the secret to this shapely figure is, the actor reveals, “This is because of Ishkq in Paris. I lost a lot of weight for it. Also, to look good, I recommend that you stay happy and sleep well.”

Preity, who co-owns an IPL team, is looking forward to the sixth season of the tournament. Talking about her cricketer friends, she says, “I’m friends with many of them, but Yuvraj (Singh) and Brett (Lee) are my close friends. These are friends for life. I have known them even before IPL started.” Initially, both these players were a part of the actor’s team but eventually shifted to other teams.
